Mr. Bigelow was trained by, and studied directly under, Mr. William English himself, who was the inventor of the English XL Variable Incidence Tribometer. Mr. Bigelow is a certified user of the English XL and holds a valid CXLT designation. The English XL is a precision instrument used to measure the slip index of walking surfaces. The English XL substantially mimics the human gait. The English XL can be used to accurately, and repeatedly, test the prevailing slip index of a walking surface under dry, wet or otherwise contaminated conditions.
